Design Engineer

The Web Presence and Platform team builds and maintains Stripe.com and other first-impression surfaces. The Presence pillar designs industry-leading experiences to educate customers, share ideas, and drive adoption. The Platform pillar powers the technology behind these surfaces, ensuring speed, stability, and ease of use. Together, they create the public face of Stripe and make every pixel count.

As a Design Engineer, you will concept, prototype, and build new experiences across Stripe’s web presence. You’ll work on evergreen pages, campaigns, and interactive digital moments, while contributing to and extending design systems. Performance, storytelling, and creative problem solving are central to the role.

You will collaborate with designers, engineers, and partners to maintain and evolve Stripe.com, prototype and implement animations, and deliver highly polished, user-focused experiences. You’ll help extend design systems, integrate platforms with self-serve authoring and experimentation, and continually raise the bar for quality.

Candidates should bring at least three years of experience in front-end development or creative technology roles. Advanced knowledge of modern HTML and CSS is required, as well as experience designing and building public-facing websites. A portfolio that demonstrates storytelling through web design, animation, and systems is expected.

Preferred qualifications include proficiency with React (with a focus on animation and performance), experience with accessibility and A/B testing, and a strong understanding of design fundamentals such as typography, layout, and proportion.

This role is available in office or remotely. Office-assigned employees spend at least 50% of their time in person, while remote employees are located more than 35 miles (56 km) from a Stripe office.

The annual US base salary range for this role is $130,600 – $195,900, with additional benefits including equity, company bonus, 401(k), medical, dental, vision, and wellness stipends.
