Design System Designer

Kobo

Rakuten Kobo is hiring a Design System Designer for a 6-month contract to help maintain and evolve its Figma component library. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers to ensure design consistency, accessibility, and scalability across Kobo’s digital products, contributing to one of the world’s most recognized e-reading platforms.

In this role, you’ll design and document accessible Figma components, partner with developers on implementation, and maintain version control across the system. You’ll be responsible for ensuring usability and compliance with accessibility standards, making the design system a reliable foundation for product teams worldwide.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of UI design experience, with a strong focus on design systems, Figma, and accessibility (WCAG). You should have experience collaborating with engineers, documenting components, and managing scalable systems. A portfolio showcasing design system work is required.

Bonus points if you’ve worked with Storybook or other system tooling. This is a mid-level role ideal for someone passionate about systems thinking and accessibility in digital design.
