Design Engineer

Dialpad

Dialpad is hiring a Design Engineer to work at the intersection of design, front-end engineering, AI, and rapid experimentation within its Design Systems team. The company provides an AI-powered customer communications platform used by more than 50,000 organisations worldwide to enhance conversations through real-time insights and automation.

In this role, you will support and evolve Dialpad’s design system, Dialtone, while designing and building experimental interfaces, internal tools, and proof-of-concept experiences that explore the future of AI-driven communication. You’ll create production-quality interactive prototypes using modern front-end frameworks, integrate real AI systems into user flows, and develop scalable tooling that accelerates experimentation across design, research, and product teams. The position also involves championing accessibility, performance, and consistency, mentoring peers, and contributing to the organisation’s design-engineering practice.

Candidates are expected to bring approximately 3–5 years of experience in design engineering or front-end product environments, including experience contributing to design systems. Strong proficiency in modern front-end technologies (such as React, Vue, HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and design tokens), a systems-thinking mindset, and a solid understanding of UX, accessibility, and information architecture are essential. Experience working with AI-driven features, prototyping tools, internal design tooling, or data-intensive SaaS products is considered advantageous.

This role offers the opportunity to shape AI-powered communication experiences within a collaborative, innovation-focused organisation that emphasises experimentation, accessibility, and continuous learning.
