Principal Product Designer

Mircosoft

Microsoft AI Monetization is a customer-first organization building the next generation of AI-powered products that help businesses achieve their goals. The Design, Research & Content team sits at the heart of this mission — a creative community focused on designing holistic, human-centered experiences for advertisers, publishers, sellers, and consumers.

We combine deep user insight, evidence-driven design, and business strategy to shape products that define the AI era and impact billions globally. Our team is collaborative, fast-moving, and deeply committed to excellence, simplicity, and integrity in everything we create.

Core Values

Quality: Deliver category-defining products that delight with reliability, usability, and polish.
Simplicity: Avoid overcomplication — less is always more.
Safety & Security: Hold the highest standards of responsibility across all experiences.
Evaluation: Stay responsive to signals, measure long-term value, and pivot when necessary.
Kindness: Treat colleagues with care, empathy, and respect while continually learning and growing together.

The Role

As a Principal Product Designer on the Platform team, you’ll design experiences that connect and elevate Microsoft’s AI monetization ecosystem — including areas like measurement, CRM, and sales workflows. Your work will span traditional advertising tools and visionary explorations that redefine how people and AI collaborate.

You’ll lead projects that bring together technical innovation and human impact, helping to shape how AI transforms business models and customer relationships.

This position requires you to be local to Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA, working on-site four days per week.

Responsibilities

You’ll design and ship world-class AI-powered experiences that prioritize trust, quality, and user delight. You’ll own a product area end-to-end — from identifying user needs and defining product requirements to driving development and iteration. You’ll collaborate with product managers and engineers to ship high-impact features, set quality standards, and ensure consistent, user-centered execution. You’ll use research and data to guide decision-making, measure outcomes, and refine experiences. You’ll set the bar for design excellence while fostering strong collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

Required:
A Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, HCI, UX, or a related field with 8+ years of design experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years.
At least 5 years designing end-to-end enterprise products or complex systems.

Preferred:
A proven ability to define and communicate design vision for innovative, bold ideas.
Experience leading design from concept through launch in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
High proficiency in design craft — from UX frameworks to polished prototypes.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and champion design thinking across the organization.
Experience with AI and generative technologies, including prompting large language models (LLMs).
Strong research literacy — using both qualitative and quantitative data for design impact.
A collaborative mindset and commitment to building an inclusive, supportive team culture.
A portfolio demonstrating world-class consumer or enterprise design work from vision to delivery.
