Our creatives are skilled problem solvers and storytellers who thrive in multidisciplinary environments. At AKQA, you’ll join a global team that values collaboration, innovation, and design excellence.
About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Product Designer with a strong foundation in UI design for complex systems. In this freelance role, you’ll help shape digital experiences for leading global brands—tackling multi-step, multi-lane workflows that impact millions of users worldwide.
You’ll translate complexity into elegant, intuitive design solutions that feel effortless while maintaining brand consistency at scale. This is a 3–4 month engagement starting immediately, with strong potential for extension well into next year.
Role requirements
You have a deep understanding of user-centred design principles and the ability to create efficient, functional, and engaging digital experiences. You can simplify interconnected product ecosystems and multi-lane processes into coherent, user-friendly designs.
You’re fluent in Figma, including component systems, responsive layouts, and interactive prototyping, and can operate both strategically (patterns, systems, vision) and tactically (flows, components, prototypes). You have a strong grasp of web and app paradigms, accessibility, and interaction design.
You bring empathy for end users and staff, integrating usability testing and research into your process. You’re proactive in identifying opportunities for better design and collaboration, working confidently with developers, stakeholders, and clients to achieve the best outcomes.
Qualities and characteristics
You have a compelling portfolio showcasing product design work—particularly UI within complex, multi-step systems. You’re skilled at developing simple, elegant solutions to layered challenges and possess exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
You collaborate inclusively, approach challenges with an open mind, and embrace innovative, progressive approaches to design.
Remote expectation
This role is remote within approved U.S. states, with occasional travel for research, workshops, or collaboration as needed.
