Product Designer
Notion
At Notion, we’re on a mission to make it possible for every person, team, and company to tailor their software to solve any problem and take on any challenge. Computers may be our most powerful tools, but most of us can’t build or modify the software we use every day. Since 2016, we’ve been changing that — with customers like OpenAI, Toyota, and Figma already on the journey with us.
We’re passionate about building a company as diverse and creative as the millions of people Notion reaches worldwide. Our team works primarily in person, with two required Anchor Days (Mondays and Thursdays) and a preference for employees to be in the office most of the week.
About the Role
Designing at Notion is like imagining the future of computing for people who’ve never seen a computer before. We’re building software that feels timeless — with the craftsmanship of German cameras, the playfulness of Japanese toys, and the universal appeal of Coca-Cola. You’ll bring creativity, technical aptitude, and impeccable craft to tackle challenges that shape how millions use Notion.
What You’ll Achieve
You’ll design product concepts that balance vision, craft, speed, and business potential. You’ll own projects end to end, from early ideation to pixel-perfect execution, working closely with engineers to ship your vision. Alongside product, customer success, and marketing teams, you’ll uncover user needs, tell compelling product stories, and evolve our design system to scale with our growth.
Skills You’ll Bring
You have 5+ years of design experience and the ability to run projects independently from start to finish. You’re deeply customer-focused, skilled at turning complex problems into intuitive flows, and can balance beautiful UI with practical business needs. You’re collaborative, a clear communicator, and able to synthesize feedback into optimal solutions. You know how to tell stories with words and visuals, and you thrive working cross-functionally with engineering, research, data, and product peers.
Nice to Haves
Experience building tools with small teams, designing for fragmented workflows, or coding your own designs. Familiarity with computing pioneers like Douglas Engelbart and Alan Kay. A unique perspective or skillset that complements the team’s diverse strengths.
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base salary range for this role in San Francisco is $105,000 – $250,000 per year, with competitive equity and benefits. Final offers may vary based on location, role scope, and your experience.
