About the Role

This Growth Product Designer role focuses on shaping how millions of people discover and gain value from ChatGPT. You’ll design experiences that drive adoption, engagement, retention, and upgrades, balancing user needs with business goals. The position sits at the intersection of product design, experimentation, and storytelling, with a major impact on product direction and design culture. The role is based in San Francisco HQ, with relocation support provided.

Responsibilities

Design end-to-end experiences that build trust and help people return to ChatGPT. Collaborate with product, engineering, and content design to run experiments and ship impactful improvements. Translate complex AI capabilities into clear, intuitive interfaces. Use data and research to guide decisions, while trusting instincts when needed. Contribute to the evolution of OpenAI’s design systems and voice. Help establish design culture and support team growth.

Requirements

A strong portfolio showcasing thoughtful product design, ideally with growth, onboarding, or consumer-facing product experience. Comfort with fast design cycles, including sketching, prototyping, and testing. Ability to balance qualitative insights with quantitative data. Excellent communication and a collaborative mindset. Curiosity about AI and how it can shape new behaviours.
