About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Platform team, focused on shaping the experience for insights.planet.com. You’ll lead design efforts from concept to production, balancing the big-picture vision with day-to-day execution. Working closely with Product and Engineering, you’ll help create intuitive, high-quality tools that make complex geospatial data accessible to a global audience.
This role is ideal for a designer who thrives on complexity, loves solving hard problems, and wants to make a tangible impact on how people use Earth observation data.
Impact You’ll Own
Gather customer feedback and conduct user interviews with product partners.
Design UX and UI solutions that support a global customer base.
Create information flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity screens and prototypes.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering to deliver production-ready designs.
Help strengthen and shape Planet’s growing design culture.
What You Bring
4+ years of professional experience designing complex digital products, ideally SaaS or technical platforms.
Bachelor’s degree in design or a related field.
Experience designing for B2B or technical audiences, from early ideation through to live product.
Proficiency with Figma, Adobe tools, and design systems.
A portfolio that clearly demonstrates your design process, results, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to handle ambiguity, iterate based on feedback, and overcome design roadblocks.
Strong skills in UX/UI design, interaction design, rapid prototyping, and accessibility.
What Makes You Stand Out
Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or remote sensing.
Familiarity with admin interfaces or payment flow design.
An AI-native mindset, using AI tools for ideation and design acceleration.
Experience solving complex, cross-functional problems with ownership and clarity.
Empathy for users and stakeholders, with the ability to balance both perspectives.
