About the Team and Role
The OneExperience team within eBay’s Core Product Design organisation is a cross-functional design group focused on taste-making, strategy, design systems, visual design, experience design, content creation, and motion design. The team’s mission is to evolve eBay’s product and brand experience for greater consistency and innovation.
This role is for a full stack Systems Designer within the Design Systems team. You’ll be responsible for crafting and evolving the design system and visual language that powers the eBay experience, ensuring it is scalable, accessible, aesthetically exceptional, and functionally superior. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and designers to deliver new components and patterns that set the standard for eBay’s customer experience.
What You Will Accomplish
Develop and refine eBay's design system by integrating visual design, interaction design, and systems thinking to produce user-friendly guidelines, patterns, and libraries that enhance both efficiency and visual appeal.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers, developers, and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent application of the design system across all products, incorporating feedback and research to drive improvements.
Prototype and deliver high-fidelity visuals demonstrating the system’s capabilities, ensuring components are adaptable across various eBay experiences.
Mentor fellow designers on strategic design system use and keep the system evolving in line with industry trends and innovations.
What You Will Bring
Five or more years of experience in visual design, interaction design, or a related field with a focus on design systems.
Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma or Framer, and familiarity with advanced tools like Proto.io, Rive, or Play.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain design decisions clearly.
Self-motivation and the ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively.
Experience with agile or scrum methodologies and iterative design processes.
Knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to inform design decisions and collaborate effectively with engineering teams.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range is $108,000 – $186,900, with exact pay dependent on factors such as location, skills, and experience. Compensation may also include bonuses, stock units, and benefits including medical, financial, paid time off, parental leave, 401(k) eligibility, and more.
