About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer on the Growth – Engagement team, you’ll help shape experiences that drive deeper adoption across GitLab’s massive user base. Your mission: help users discover more value within the platform and turn GitLab into their daily driver.
You’ll design intelligent, contextual experiences that surface the right features, insights, and next steps to every user — helping them expand their workflows and get more out of GitLab.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role, collaborating closely with UX Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to optimize user journeys from trial to daily use.
What You’ll Do
Design personalized, data-informed experiences that drive product adoption and feature discovery.
Collaborate across teams to refine onboarding, activation, and engagement experiences.
Create user flows, prototypes, mockups, and high-fidelity visuals to communicate your design thinking.
Define and measure success metrics for your design experiments and feature launches.
Partner with cross-functional teams to establish growth design methodologies and best practices.
Engage with GitLab’s global community to identify pain points and advocate for long-term improvements.
Conduct and support usability testing with guidance from UX Research.
Contribute to the Pajamas Design System, helping maintain consistency and usability across GitLab.
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience as a Growth Designer or in growth-related areas like onboarding, feature adoption, or user conversion.
Strong foundation in product experimentation and A/B testing.
Experience conducting your own research and applying findings to design decisions.
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and manage complex stakeholder input.
Strong visual design skills — you know when to follow the design system and when to evolve it.
Familiarity with DevSecOps, developer tools, or technical user bases is a plus.
Nice to Have
Domain knowledge of DevSecOps or open-source ecosystems.
Experience designing for large, complex B2B SaaS products.
Ability to balance business goals with user experience impact.
Compensation
$140,000 – $185,000 USD, depending on experience and location.
Includes equity, bonus eligibility, and full benefits package.
