About the Role
As a Senior Product Designer II, you’ll be a strategic design leader and usability owner within your product’s tripod (Product, Engineering, and Design). You’ll guide product discovery, shape direction in ambiguous spaces, and ensure that every experience we ship feels clear, trustworthy, and learning-focused.
You’ll own end-to-end design for complex systems, mentor other designers, and set usability standards that scale across products. You’ll balance thoughtful craft with business impact—helping us design solutions that make online learning accessible, intuitive, and impactful for millions of users worldwide.
What You’ll Do
Overall Impact
Act as the design lead within your product area, partnering with PMs and Engineers to drive discovery and usability excellence.
Own large, ambiguous problem spaces and bring clarity through research, storytelling, and design strategy.
Influence product direction through clear hypotheses, design thinking, and synthesis of user insights.
Raise the bar for usability by introducing scalable patterns and contributing to the design system.
Mentor peers, model collaboration, and strengthen team culture through shared feedback and best practices.
Usability Ownership
Define and uphold usability standards from early access through general availability.
Translate customer insights into intuitive, measurable design outcomes.
Anticipate edge cases, mitigate usability risks early, and iterate based on data and feedback.
Ensure designs are intuitive, consistent, and tied directly to user and business goals.
Design Execution
Create detailed flows, wireframes, and prototypes that turn complex systems into simple, usable interfaces.
Deliver polished specs with interaction states, motion, and clear rationale.
Contribute to and evolve Articulate’s design system, ensuring cohesion and efficiency across teams.
Lead Design QA with engineers to ensure experiences meet the highest quality standards before release.
Prototype and test new design methods to improve team efficiency and user value.
Collaboration & Leadership
Serve as a trusted partner in shaping product roadmaps and prioritization.
Lead cross-functional alignment and communication across multiple projects.
Foster a culture of inclusive feedback and evidence-based design.
Team & Mentorship
Model high design standards, accountability, and curiosity.
Coach mid-level designers and contribute to team-wide learning.
Strengthen design culture through critique sessions, process refinement, and shared learning.
What You Bring
8–10 years of product design experience in modern SaaS environments.
Proven end-to-end design leadership across complex systems and multi-surface products.
Deep expertise in Figma, responsive design, and design systems.
Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability heuristics, and rapid prototyping.
Experience working in empowered product teams (tripods/trios).
Excellent storytelling and communication skills—able to align and inspire across teams.
Self-directed, proactive, and resilient, with strong prioritization and accountability.
Demonstrated ability to influence design strategy beyond immediate product scope.
Nice to Haves
Experience with hypothesis-driven product development.
Familiarity with user research tools (e.g., Maze, UserTesting, analytics).
Prior experience mentoring or leveling up peers.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $154,600 – $232,200 USD (depending on experience and location)
