Senior Product Designer

Monzo

Monzo is on a mission to make money work for everyone. We started out with a prepaid card but have since grown into a leading fintech company with over 12 million customers in the UK. Our products include personal and business accounts, joint accounts, credit cards, and even investment and pension options.

We’ve raised over $1 billion from top investors including Google’s growth fund, Y Combinator, Stripe, TenCent, and others, most recently at a $5 billion valuation. We’re now focused on building Monzo in the US, operating like a startup but with the financial and operational muscle of a bigger company.

Our approach to banking is human and simple. We design for magic moments, blending empathy, research, and craft to make financial interactions memorable and meaningful.

The Role

As a Senior Product Designer at Monzo, you’ll shape the future of banking by creating customer-centric, seamless experiences. You’ll work closely with research, product, and engineering to define problems, explore solutions, and deliver impactful design.

This role involves balancing vision with execution, ensuring every interaction aligns with Monzo’s principles while raising the quality bar across our design system. From refining complex flows to shipping polished, high-quality features, you’ll help set the standard for design at Monzo.

What We’re Looking For

You deeply understand customer problems and translate insights from research and data into scalable, intuitive designs. You’re comfortable navigating ambiguity, adapting processes to drive maximum impact, and thinking in systems to create cohesive end-to-end experiences.

Expertise in native app design for iOS and Android is essential, along with a sharp eye for UI, UX writing, accessibility, and delight. You thrive on collaboration, building strong partnerships with engineers, researchers, and product managers.

We value self-starters who can work “scrappily” when needed to quickly learn what matters most. You’ll also play a role in elevating team processes, mentoring, and contributing to Monzo’s mission of making money work for everyone.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $148,800 to $201,300 plus equity.

Hybrid role based in San Francisco.

Learning budget of $1,500 annually for books, training, and conferences.

Generous 401k with 4% employer match.

The Hiring Process

Portfolio submission followed by an initial recruiter screening call.

One-hour craft interview where you’ll present and discuss a recent case study.

Additional interviews with members of the team including product managers, engineers, and design leadership.

Inclusion

At Monzo, diversity and inclusion are central to our mission. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
