Senior / Staff Product Designer
Linear
At Linear, our mission is to inspire and accelerate builders. We’re creating a purpose-built tool for planning and building products — one that combines elegant UI with world-class performance.
We believe quality is our competitive advantage. Every member of our fully remote team is a maker at heart, caring deeply about the quality and feel of our work.
While much of the industry prioritises speed and metrics, we believe craft and quality have lasting value. Quality creates gravity — it draws people to the product rather than relying on push. That philosophy informs everything we do, from how we design features to how we hire.
The Role
We’re looking for someone with robust design skills, sharp product thinking, and the ability to engage in technical conversations.
At Linear, we work in small, autonomous project teams. Designers are paired closely with engineers to explore ideas, build prototypes, ship internal builds, and ultimately launch features to customers. You’ll be involved from the start of a project to the very end. There are no hand-offs — just true collaboration from exploration to delivery.
Please note: We are a remote-only company, and this role is open to candidates based in North America and Canada.
What You'll Do
You’ll partner closely with engineering and product to lead roadmap projects end-to-end — from early exploration to final implementation.
You’ll proactively identify areas to refine or redesign — from larger flows to small interaction issues you notice while using the product yourself.
You’ll create mockups, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals to clearly communicate ideas and execution.
You’ll participate in critique and collaboration, offering thoughtful feedback and guiding others on the team.
You’ll work within and contribute to our lightweight design system.
You’ll help evaluate and hire new teammates who will elevate both our design practice and product quality.
What We’re Looking For
You have 7 or more years of experience designing software products.
You’re curious and confident — willing to ask questions, try new things, and advocate for your ideas.
You’re open to feedback and collaboration. You know how to adapt, refine, and iterate to get to the right solution.
You’re skilled at prototyping in Figma and comfortable going beyond — with tools like HTML/CSS, AI tools, or Origami.
You can distill complex problems and feedback into clear, focused solutions.
You communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally. Much of our collaboration is async.
What We Offer
You’ll join a small, tight-knit team of incredibly talented people who care deeply about their craft.
You’ll work on meaningful problems in a fast-moving environment, with plenty of room to grow and challenge yourself.
We offer flexibility and balance through a fully remote setup.
Compensation includes a competitive salary and equity — with early and extended exercise options.
We cover paid lunch and coffee during workdays.
We offer support for coworking spaces or desk rentals if you prefer working outside the home.
Health, dental, and vision insurance are provided for US-based team members.
We host regular team events and off-sites to connect in person.
Time off includes 5 weeks of paid vacation and 4 months of paid parental leave.
