What This Job Can Offer You
This is an exciting time to join Remote and make an impact in the global employment space. You’ll be joining our Product Design team as a Staff Product Designer, focused on our design system, Norma.
We’re a team of over 40 multidisciplinary designers, researchers, and creatives. We’re passionate about crafting the experiences that help Remote scale successfully — and help our customers attract, hire, manage, and pay anyone, anywhere.
As Staff Product Designer, you’ll lead a newly formed, cross-functional squad dedicated to evolving, implementing, and scaling Norma.
You’ll be responsible for the tools, components, documentation, and workflows that empower designers and engineers to create world-class experiences. You’ll work with product designers, engineers, product managers, and stakeholders around the world to drive adoption of the design system.
What You Bring
You’re a hands-on designer with strong experience building and evolving design systems. You know what it takes to scale a system across a fast-moving product and cross-functional team.
Your portfolio includes examples of product design and design system work. You think in systems but understand visual and interaction fundamentals just as deeply.
You value consistency and understand the impact of designing systematically — but you also know when it’s time to flex the rules.
You’re an excellent communicator. You know how to build strong narratives, guide others, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional peers.
You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Your work history shows you can lead design independently across complex projects and domains.
You’ve worked closely with product and engineering to build consensus and solve real business problems. You know how to navigate differing opinions and help teams move forward.
You care deeply about both the product and the design culture — influencing not just what we build, but how we build it.
Experience designing complex B2B SaaS products in industries like HRTech or FinTech is preferred. We’re also looking for someone who embodies Remote’s core values.
You don’t need prior remote work experience — but it’s a bonus if you have it.
Key Responsibilities
You’ll lead the design for Remote’s design system, Norma. You’ll also support nearby product teams where design system work overlaps.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineers to build polished, scalable components. You’ll ensure consistency between design and code.
You’ll maintain, govern, and evolve the design system by working across the organization. That includes participating in critiques and team conversations.
You’ll create the documentation, guidance, and materials that help the rest of the org adopt and align with the design system.
You’ll define processes for identifying improvements, managing governance, and scaling the system with engineering partners.
You’ll improve current components and evolve our visual language in partnership with the broader design org.
You’ll encourage excellence across the team, holding high standards for quality while embracing new tools and workflows.
You’ll support the org asynchronously through day-to-day troubleshooting and collaboration.
You’ll champion usability, scalability, and accessibility — bringing those principles into everything we ship.
Practicals
You’ll report to a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager. You’ll be part of the Product Design team.
You can be based anywhere in the world. The start date is as soon as possible.
