Product Designer
The Telegraph
The Telegraph is hiring a Product Designer to help shape the digital experience across its app and web platforms. The role sits within the Product Design team and focuses on designing end-to-end journeys used by millions of readers each day. You’ll work across the full design process, from early exploration to detailed UI and delivery, balancing reader needs, editorial goals and business priorities.
This position is ideal for a designer with a few years of experience who’s ready to take on more ownership. You’ll lead smaller initiatives, support larger multi-team projects, and play a role in maintaining and evolving the Telegraph Design System. Collaboration is central to the role: you’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, editors and stakeholders to define problems, explore solutions, and ensure that designs are executed accurately.
The team looks for designers with strong product thinking, a user-first approach, and attention to detail. You should feel comfortable managing parts of projects independently, knowing when to seek guidance, and presenting your rationale clearly to stakeholders. Experience working in agile teams and using evidence-based design methods — including research, testing, and data — is important.
You’ll need professional experience as a product or digital designer, a portfolio showing user-centred work with measurable impact, and strong proficiency in Figma. Understanding accessibility, responsive design, and design system principles is essential. Experience in media, subscriptions or e-commerce is a plus, along with familiarity in experimentation, user research, or creating supporting assets like icons or animations.
The Telegraph offers a collaborative environment with strong design maturity and opportunities to shape the future of digital journalism. Benefits include flexible working options, medical cover, generous parental leave, life assurance, season ticket loans, and ongoing training and development through The Academy. The company is committed to diversity and inclusion and participates in the UK’s Level 3 Disability Confident scheme.
