UX Design Lead
UBS
UBS is seeking a UX Design Lead to drive the creation of intuitive, user-centered digital products and lead a talented team of designers within the HRCS UX Design Center of Excellence.
In this role, you’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on design execution — mentoring designers, shaping design processes, and championing the business value of design across the organization. You’ll oversee UX strategy, guide research and prototyping, and ensure cohesive, high-quality design outcomes that elevate user satisfaction and business impact.
You’ll also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders — to align user needs, design goals, and business objectives.
What You’ll Do
You’ll lead the UX team and contribute to design execution by:
Managing, mentoring, and inspiring a team of UX designers, providing constructive feedback and career growth opportunities.
Acting as a design evangelist, communicating the value of UX across the organization and embedding design into UBS’s dual-track agile process.
Shaping the visual language and interaction design of digital products aligned with user stories and design best practices.
Facilitating ideation workshops and design sprints to align vision, requirements, and creative direction.
Conducting user research to understand needs, behaviors, and pain points, translating insights into actionable personas and design concepts.
Designing and testing wireframes and prototypes, refining solutions through iterative validation.
Collaborating with developers to ensure design fidelity and providing guidance on specifications during implementation.
Your Team
You’ll be part of the HRCS Tech team in London, sitting within the Group Functions HRCS Tech stream. The Design Center of Excellence (CoE) operates within UBS’s agile model, where designers, engineers, and product managers collaborate to deliver impactful digital experiences.
This is a newly formed, dynamic group where you’ll play a key role in building the foundation of UBS’s design culture and capabilities.
Your Expertise
You bring a strong blend of design leadership, technical skill, and business acumen. Specifically, you have:
Proven experience as a UX Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of user-centered design work.
Demonstrated success leading and mentoring large design teams.
Expertise in facilitating workshops (journey mapping, storyboarding, design sprints, etc.) in agile environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a user-first mindset.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across senior levels.
Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with modern design systems and tools.
Interest or experience in financial services or enterprise digital products.
