Kaluza
Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. Its intelligent platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and move toward a sustainable future. From smart EV charging to intelligent grid balancing, Kaluza transforms energy complexity into opportunities for a cleaner world. The platform already serves millions of customers and is expanding globally.
Role
This is a hands-on design leadership role focused on taking the Home Energy Management System (HEMS) from Alpha to public launch in Australia. You will empower customers to seamlessly manage EVs, solar, and home batteries, maximising their use of clean energy. You will lead a global effort, working closely with the Australian team, shipping high-quality UI work, and mentoring peers through expertise and example.
Responsibilities
You will establish the design playbook for home energy, defining how users interact with a complex ecosystem of devices. You will champion behavioural design, identify emerging patterns in global pilots, and use both qualitative and quantitative data to decide which interactions become standard.
You will act as the storyteller for HEMS, building alignment and excitement for bold design directions by roadshowing concepts and demos across teams. You will translate complexity into simple, trust-building products for both tech-savvy early adopters and those new to home electrification.
You will mentor peers, lead design critiques, facilitate co-design workshops, and set a high bar for design quality and strategic thinking.
Requirements
Deep expertise in Figma and systems thinking, with experience creating and maintaining design systems and frameworks, is essential. You should combine a love for hands-on UI design with a visionary mindset, and be confident making bold suggestions that push design craft forward.
A strong portfolio should show how you have transformed complex technical systems such as IoT or data platforms into simple, elegant experiences with measurable strategic and commercial impact. You should take a pragmatic, data-informed approach, using insights and analytics to validate design decisions.
Strong relationship-building and leadership skills are required, with the ability to influence, align teams, and ensure knowledge-sharing.
Benefits
Kaluza offers an additional 9% of salary to spend on benefits, private medical insurance, life assurance, 26 days holiday plus a birthday day off, flexible bank holidays, progressive leave policies including 26 weeks full pay for new parents, a discretionary annual bonus, a personal learning budget, and flexible working. All benefits are available from day one.
Inclusion
Kaluza values diversity and inclusion, believing that varied perspectives make the work stronger. Applications are welcomed from all backgrounds, and talent is recognised on merit and potential. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, you are encouraged to apply.
