About the Team

You’ll join the Foundation team, which owns the essential experiences that make Goodnotes great — from navigation and toolbars to cross-platform performance and consistency. The team is distributed across Asia and Europe, collaborating asynchronously to deliver delightful, accessible experiences across iOS, Android, Windows, and Web.

You can work remotely within Europe or Asia, or from our Hong Kong or London offices, with flexible hours and at least four hours of overlap with your closest collaborators.

About the Role

We’re looking for a UX Researcher to lead strategic and evaluative research shaping the foundation of the Goodnotes experience. You’ll design studies that uncover user needs, validate design decisions, and influence the evolution of tools used by millions of note-takers worldwide.

You’ll collaborate with product designers, engineers, and product managers to ensure the insights you uncover directly inform high-impact design decisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead foundational and evaluative UX research across iOS, Android, Windows, and Web.

  • Deliver insights that influence the design of navigation, note-taking, and editing tools.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to bring structure and clarity to product decisions.

  • Identify unmet user needs and translate them into actionable opportunities.

  • Use qualitative and light quantitative methods to guide insight-driven product improvements.

  • Help move the team from intuition-led to insight-led decision making.

What You’ll Bring

  • 3–4+ years of in-house UX research experience.

  • Proven experience leading end-to-end research independently.

  • A portfolio demonstrating how your insights shaped product direction.

  • Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal.

  • Strong ability to connect research findings to business and product metrics.

  • Proficiency in qualitative and light quantitative research.

  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and choosing the right research methods for the problem.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with multi-platform or productivity tools.

  • Familiarity with tools like UserTesting, Maze, Useberry, Optimal Workshop, or Amplitude.

  • Experience with behavioral analytics or product-led growth.

  • Knowledge of unmoderated testing and async workflows.

Why You’ll Love Working at Goodnotes

  • Budget for home office setup, personal development, and wellbeing.

  • Medical insurance for you and your dependents.

  • Flexible working hours and remote options.

  • Sponsored travel to our Hong Kong or London offices every two years.

  • Annual company-wide offsite and team retreats.

  • Work on a beloved, high-impact product with millions of users.

Contract: 12-month fixed term (renewable/convertible)
Location: Remote (Europe or Asia) or office-based in London or Hong Kong

If you’re passionate about uncovering insights that shape intuitive, impactful experiences — and want to help redefine how humans and AI collaborate — Goodnotes is the place for you.
