
UX Researcher

Studio 8, a multi-product, multi-disciplinary Design and Research team in Microsoft China, has an opening for an experienced, motivated, and innovative UX Researcher 2 in the Beijing/Suzhou studio.
The team works on a broad variety of Microsoft products for global markets. As a member of the UX research team, you will influence product strategy, experience design, and development with user insights in the AI era, with a focus on MAI products.
The ideal candidate is capable of independently running research projects in partnership with product, design, and engineering teams. This includes defining research questions, agreeing on methods, collecting and analysing data, reporting insights, and ensuring actions are taken. The role also empowers teams to engage directly with customers for further insights beyond UX research.
Qualifications
Master’s degree (or higher) in Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Sociology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field, or significant industry experience.
4+ years of industry experience conducting full-cycle qualitative and quantitative research projects, from planning and defining questions to delivering insights.
Passion for human-centred design and customer-driven product and platform development.
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets into actionable insights.
Quick learner able to take on new themes or products rapidly.
Growth mindset in an agile environment, open to feedback and iteration.
Excellent English speaking and writing skills, comfortable conducting interviews or focus groups in English.
Collaborative and approachable, with experience working alongside product managers, data scientists, and designers.
Experience in research democratization is a plus.
Responsibilities
The UX Research team in Studio 8 works closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to improve product experiences and inform strategy in the AI era. As a UX Researcher 2, you will work independently on research projects while also empowering teams to engage with customers and act on insights.
You will plan research based on product needs, align on methodology and deliverables, and collect data in both English and Mandarin. You will analyse qualitative and quantitative data, including behavioural and telemetry data, and present results with actionable insights.
The role requires strong collaboration and communication skills to influence product direction and follow up on actions based on findings. Researchers are expected to work in an agile manner while still delivering high-quality, impactful outputs.
Alongside conducting research, you will also mentor and empower partner teams to integrate user insights into their processes.
