Lead Product Designer
Monzo
We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone.
We’re saying goodbye to the complicated, outdated ways of traditional banking. What started as a prepaid card has grown into a full suite of personal and business banking tools — including joint accounts, credit cards, accounts for teens, and even kids’ accounts.
We also help people save, invest, and manage their pensions — all in one place.
Whether it’s our hot coral cards, our get-paid-early feature, or award-winning customer service, we’ve always been about creating magical moments. But most importantly, we’re not just selling products — we’re solving real problems and helping people live financially better lives.
About the Growth Team
Our Growth collective helps people discover the value of Monzo from day one.
We focus on creating experiences that help customers build healthy financial habits and invite others to do the same. We support other teams too, enabling more people to find and fall in love with Monzo.
We champion our customers — designing delightful, useful experiences they actually want. We turn hypotheses into bold experiments and focus on meaningful outcomes.
Growth at Monzo is a team sport. We work collaboratively across functions and leverage our diverse perspectives to drive impact.
About the Role
As a lead product designer in the Growth team, you’ll be surrounded by a passionate and experienced crew of designers, researchers, and writers.
You’ll play a key role in improving the community of practice across the team — from leading design rituals to mentoring others to giving great feedback.
Like all designers at Monzo, you’ll be embedded in a cross-functional squad. You’ll take ownership of the end-to-end design process, from early discovery and user journey mapping through to high-fidelity UI and handoff.
You’ll be deeply involved in research — joining sessions, running your own lightweight testing, and drawing on existing insights to better understand the what, why, and how of customer problems.
You’ll balance ideal experiences with the realities of technical constraints, experimentation strategies, and business risks. You’ll always advocate for appropriate, intuitive, and accessible solutions.
You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to ensure the entire team is aligned around great design.
You Should Apply If
You’re a designer who balances high quality with humility. You stay open to alternative directions and welcome feedback.
You’re a strong communicator — whether it’s articulating design rationale, engaging cross-functionally, or writing UX copy.
You’re comfortable working with data — collaborating with analysts or digging into the numbers yourself.
You approach growth through experimentation. You know how to form hypotheses, test ideas, and interpret behavioural data.
You thrive in ambiguity and are comfortable working at pace.
You’re motivated by shared ownership. You like to bring people together around cross-functional problems and find solutions that span business areas.
You focus on outcomes — not just outputs — and are motivated by learning through failure.
You’re excited about using new technologies like AI to improve your design workflow.
You’re confident crafting modern, polished prototypes with personality and clarity.
You have a strong foundation in product design and enjoy cutting through generic layouts to bring something unique.
Bonus Points If
You’ve facilitated design sprints or worked in experimentation-heavy teams.
You’re comfortable building scrappy prototypes and testing quickly to validate ideas.
You embrace strong opinions loosely held — combining confidence with adaptability as you learn.
You’ve worked on products that scale across multiple markets or geographies.
Our Hiring Process
The process includes three stages:
First, a 30-minute intro call with a member of our hiring team to talk through your background and motivations.

Finally, a final loop made up of two interviews covering impact and teamwork, typically happening on the same day.
Most processes take 2–3 weeks depending on availability. If you have questions, you can reach out directly to nataliehills@monzo.com.
