About SoundCloud
SoundCloud empowers artists and fans to connect and share through music. Founded in 2007, we’re an artist-first platform, helping creators grow their careers with progressive tools, services, and resources.
With over 400 million tracks from 40 million artists, SoundCloud is shaping the future of music.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Ads Team. This team plays a key role in shaping SoundCloud’s ad experiences — balancing revenue goals with great user experience for free listeners.
Your work will focus on integrating ads into the product in ways that are seamless, elegant, and effective. You’ll help make ads feel natural for users while driving conversions to paid subscriptions.
This role is highly collaborative. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and business partners to shape the future of our platform — where ads enhance the experience, rather than interrupt it.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll communicate and present ideas clearly across design, engineering, and product teams.
You’ll lead collaborative sessions such as workshops, sprints, and brainstorming meetings to bring others into your process.
You’ll use research, both qualitative and quantitative, to uncover user pain points and spot new opportunities for the business.
You’ll stay on top of trends and competitor activity to keep our ad experiences relevant and fresh.
You’ll ensure ad formats align with the platform’s visual design system — discreet, seamless, and accessible.
You’ll help define ad-specific design system components and work closely with the wider design team to maintain a high visual standard.
You’ll use data and experimentation to inform design decisions. That includes defining KPIs, designing experiments, and interpreting test results.
You’ll support user research and prototype testing — from fake-door tests to hands-on interviews.
You’ll work side-by-side with engineers to ensure designs are feasible, clear, and well-implemented.
You’ll document your designs clearly, support developer handoff, and maintain ongoing alignment with stakeholders across Product, RevOps, and Data.
What You’ll Bring
You’re a user-first designer who understands how to align user needs with business goals.
You have at least 4 years of experience in product design — ideally with exposure to advertising or consumer-facing platforms.
You’re confident presenting your work, collaborating across disciplines, and clearly explaining your design thinking.
You care about visual craft, interaction quality, and understand what makes ads engaging — not intrusive.
You’re experienced in user research, A/B testing, and data-informed design.
You’re proficient in Figma, FigJam, and Miro.
You’re familiar with the basics of how frontend and backend systems work together.
